Born in 1786 in Kehlur (present-day Himachal Pradesh), General Zorawar Singh rose to prominence through his campaigns in Ladakh, Baltistan and Tibet during the early 19th century. His expeditions into Tibet remain among the most remarkable examples of sustained high-altitude military operations in history.
